What to Know
Hailing from West Virginia Tears of Olympus has been making walls quake, asses shake, and with their engaging high-volume, powerhouse performances since 2015 they’ve become known for bringing their brand of heavy, groovy rock and roll and professionalism on and off the stage. These cats have built up a reputation across West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina and Ohio of being a serious band with compelling performances. They’ve learned lots of lessons from being on the road with several festival dates, biker rallies, and being invited back to hundreds of venues.
Equally as influenced by bands like Down and Clutch, as they are by funk and soul legend James Brown as they are by punk legends Bad Religion and Sick of it All the music is unique stew with Alec (bass), Tank (drums), and Matt J (guitar and vocals) bringing their own unique flavors to the mix. These guys come to rock and rock hard, it’s just that simple.
So what is Tears of Olympus? A typo. No, seriously. The story goes that Matt was looking for a book for his son when he was first putting the band together and deciding on a name. His phone auto-corrected the name from “Blood of Olympus” to “Tears...”. When he ran the idea by a few people and saw their reactions he knew he was on to something unique that opened the door on serious and complex issues but still keeping their eye on having fun.
